Get to higher ground during a flood and avoid flood waters.

You may know how to prepare for a flood, but do you know what to do during a flood? Water levels and the rate the water is traveling, can change very quickly. Keep these tips in mind during flooding.

Stay informed. Listen to the radio or watch your local television stations. You may also want to check social media for information and updates.

Get to higher ground.

Practice electrical safety. If electrical outlets or cords are submerged in water do not enter the room. Stay out of water that may have electricity in it.

Avoid flood waters. Do not walk or drive through flood waters. It only takes less than 2 feet of water to carry away large vehicles.

Obey evacuation orders.
